Lobstah! Because Maine.

When in Maine, one MUST have LOBSTAH! On our last day in Skowhegan, our local friend, Louise scoured the stores and brought home several handsome fresh lobsters and steamers (soft shell clams). Together with her mom and sister, Louise prepared a most delicious and decadent lunch for us before we headed out of town.

Louise expertly shelled the lobsters and we followed suit. We shelled and dipped the juicy meat into butter, closely and patiently observed by Louise’s sweet dog, Lucy. Desert was Maine Whoopie Pie, homemade. This is the official state treat, while blueberry pie is Maine’s traditional desert.

We hugged Louise and her family good bye, and drove back to our campsite. After one last walk with the dogs around the campground, we packed up the RV and headed out toward White Mountain, New Hampshire to catch some fall colors.
