Yaquina Lighthouse and Newport, OR

Beautifully restored and kept, Yaquina Head Lighthouse stands the tallest on the Oregon coast, and is the only lighthouse with the living quarters attached. It took over the job of the old Yaquina Bay Lighthouse, which is the only historic wooden Oregon lighthouse still standing.

Dungeness Crab – A Fishing Tale

I love a good crab cake and fresh seafood, so when I saw a chance to stay at an RV park that organized crabbing trips, I signed up! Netarts Bay in Oregon is known for Dungeness Crab, as well as Red Rock Crab and many varieties of clams.

Ciao, bella Italia (Sorrento)

Sorrento

We arrived in the train station of Sorrento on a lovely early September day. We didn’t have to go far to find our accommodation but we did manage to miss it, and get turned around: down the street from the train station, past the shops and resisting the temptations of gelaterias, through the park and to the right; then, another right, a left and up the street. Finally locating our destination, we were relieved when we figured out how to unlock the entry gate. We were welcomed by a luscious lemon and orange grove with a path leading to an old house.
