One of Washington state’s seven wonders, the Palouse is a 4,000 square feet area of rolling hills near Spokane, Washington. From the summit of Steptoe Butte, standing at 3,612 feet above the ground, one can admire the Palouse’s beauty: shades of green from the lush fields of barley and wheat in the spring, and the sparkling shades of gold and brown during harvest time.

Space Needle and Public Market: Seattle, Washington
Seattle on a sunny day is fantastic! From its futuristic Space Needle, the 360° views of the city on the water are spectacular. Nearby, the MoPop museum and the Chihuly Garden and Glass offer great sensory entertainment, while Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Discovery Center showcases amazing life-enhancing inventions and remarkable individuals. Oh, and the coffee is great!

We started our drive down the Washington coast with a classic sunset at Rialto Beach, a next day lunch break with a stunning view of a tumultuous Second Beach. Farther south, we stopped by Lake Quinault, then checked out Copalis Beach and Ocean City Beach before continuing on to coastal Oregon.

We’ve made it to the northwesternmost spot in the contiguous USA, Cape Flattery, WA! As it often happens, the destination was only one good part of our trip. On our way to the cape, we had the unique opportunity to attend the festivities of the Makah Native Americans’ annual celebrations at Neah Bay.
